Steve Burnside is Claire Redfield's partner in Resident Evil: Code Veronica. They meet in the scene where Steve is up in a tower when Claire walks past and he begins to shoot. Claire immediately ducks for cover avoiding the shots and begins firing. Steve screams and they realize there both human. Steven tells his story and runs off. Claire saves Steve not long after in an incident in the mansion and from there has several encounters with Claire as the game goes on. He repays her saving her a few times throughout the game. Then later Steve is mutated and Claire is forced to run from him for her life. In the end Steve turns to a human again and dies with his last words being "I love you Claire".
