[edit] Description

Resident Evil 5 comes to us as the 6th main installment of the terrifying Resident Evil series. The S.T.A.R.S organisation has long been at rest, yet the menace that is bioterrorism still exists unknown to the world. Resident Evil 5 sees one of the well known heroes of the Resident Evil series, Chris Redfield returns as part of a new organisation, the B.S.A.A. Chris heads to Africa to investigate the latest biohazard outbreak, there, he walks back into his very worst nightmare where mindless, maddened creatures lurk around every corner. Chris must fight to survive alongside his mysterious counter-part Sheva. At E3 of 2008, Takeuchi announced that the title would be released in Japan on March 5, 2009 and in North America and Europe on March 13, 2009 on the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 consoles.

[edit] Plot

Producer Jan Takeuchi has not released many details on the plotline of RE5, aside from stating the game will have a similar setting to the Black Hawk Down movie, and it will continue from where Resident Evil 4 left off. The game will revolve around Chris' life during the ten years between RE4 and RE5.

Resident Evil 5 has been confirmed to be set in Africa, in an unnamed country located near a set of active volcanoes around the countries of Eritrea, Ethiopia, as well as Kenya. The volcanic activity could possibly release a dormant virus into the open.

[edit] Gameplay

In Resident Evil 5, Capcom will teach players to fear the daylight as much as they have feared the darkness in previous games. New technology developed solely for Resident Evil 5 will make this game the most dynamic and detailed games of the series.

Resident Evil 5 will have similar game play to Resident Evil 4 but instead of controlling Leon S. Kennedy, the player will control Chris Redfield with the same third-person-shooter perspective. The Mercenaries mini-game will also make its return in RE5.

The game will feature lots of online elements. Resident Evil 5's main story mode can be played with two players, in a co-operative online mode. The feature will allow players to enter or leave anytime during the game. Players will not always stick together, and can be separated at points during the game play.

The game will also feature enemies who posses melee weapons (Very similar to RE4). The new enemies in RE5 will be different from the previous ganados, the new enemies have greatly increased the number of weapon variations compared to the previous game.

[edit] Controversy

RE5 was the center of a lot of controversy over the fact that you be a white American killing primarily black African's (as the game does take place in Africa). [1] This sparked a huge debate across the internet over the content, but ultimately CAPCOM claims the amidst the controversy they did not alter the game at all. [2], despite the fact that the following trailer gave the first signs of Sheva Alomar, your African-American BSAA partner, as well as introducing many more enemies with a lighter skin tone.
