Strategy & Technique *May contain spoilers*

#1 - Del Lago

First seen in Chapter 1 - 3, Del Lago translates to 'Of the Lake' i.e. Creature of the lake.

This battle begins as Leon tries to cross the lake on a small boat; As you cross you are intercepted by Del Lago and are dragged behind it.

Your only weapon in this battle is a Harpoon that is built into the boat. Near the start of this fight Del Lago will try to pull you into obstacles that float on the lake, you need to try to steer away from these and anticipate Del Lago's movements. The monster will also try to charge you as it rises from the lake; If you are hit off the boat, you will lose health and will have to tap the Action button rapidly in order to swim back to the safety of the boat. When you have a clear and steady shot, you need to shoot Del Lago with the harpoon, in Pro mode, killing the monster will take upwards of 7 well aimed shots.

#2 - El Gigante
El Gigante is encountered in chapters:

2-1 - The Quarry
2-3 - Optional - Take the right path after the Cabin Fight
4-2 - Furnace room

El Gigante can only be defeated by killing the parasite that has taken over its body; you first need to expose the parasite by shooting El Gigante (preferably head shots). When the parasite is revealed you can either shoot it, or you can run up to El Gigante > Jump on his back and slash away at the parasite with the knife.

Tip - Free the dog trapped in the bear trap at the beginning of the game, it will help you by acting as a decoy in the El Gigante fight in chapter 2-1.

In chapter 2-3 you have the added annoyance of having to protect Ashley from the beast. You do however have the option of shooting the boulder - Either damaging El Gigante of blocking it temporarily; you can also use the large wooden gates to buy time in which you can inflict further damage on El Gigante.

In chapter 4-2 there are two El Gigantes, these are much stronger the ones you face in chapter 2-1 and 2-3. However, you can use the trap door technique to kill off one of the pair at the beginning of the battle; Simply climb the scaffolding on the right of the furnace room, and slide down using the cable, once at the other side press the action button to ready yourself to open the furnace trapdoor and wait until one of the El Gigantes is above it, if you are successful it means and instant kill, however you still need to watch out as the El Gigante will try to pull you in with it. The second El Gigante can be dealt with in the same was as the ones in chapters 2-1 and 2-3.

#3 Village Chief (Bitores Mendez)
This boss can be tough, especially if you have limited supplies, such as herbs. Here's what I recommend you have: 50 handgun ammo; 10 Shotgun ammo(15 is better); a flash grenade is helpful; 2-3 incendiary grenades; 50 TMP ammo.

There are two levels in the torture shack, the bottom floor, and the rafters around the room. You can find some useful items up there, some handgun ammo, which I don't recommend stopping for unless absolutely necessary, a yellow herb, a green herb, and a red herb. These i do recommend getting, unless you are really confident about your health meter. Be quick up there, or Mendez will swipe at you.

On to beating him- He has two forms, the first is the spinal standing form. His attacks are swiping at you and if you get too close, grabbing you. When he swipes at you in this form, you get a split second to press L+R to evade. This can happen a few times, so be trigger happy with those buttons. If he grabs you, just roll the control stick around. When he first starts coming at you, get a few handgun shots off at him. Once you feel him getting too close, grab an incendiary grenade, AIM CAREFULLY and toss it. When he's done burning, lobb another at him. Don't worry about it hitting you too either. If he gets close to the corner, shoot the barrel and he'll burn. After the two grenades, his body will separate, and you just face the top half. This half swings from rafters holding the room up. Get a couple shots off from any weapon, and start running. Basically, run, turn shoot with the TMP, then run, turn, and the same. If he gets close, AKA- on the lower rafter in front of you, lob a flash grenade if you got one, if not, shoot and run, because you cant dodge those hits. If the flash grenade works, use a shotgun if it's good and loaded (shoulda loaded it outside) or the TMP, and just shoot the heck outta him while he's on the ground for a few seconds. If you do this right, he'll fall down and die, and his eye falls out. Your reward? 30,000 Pesos and his eye. Oh and the ability to open that gate with the retinal scanner.

#4 Verdugo
This boss can be one of the hardest in the game for some people, so it's recommended that you get a rocket launcher, because it will make this battle go from Hard to Easy. You can even get a rocket launcher from one of the rooms in the castle for free. If you're broke, play that target practice for a while, you can win 15000 to 35000 pesas for completing a row.
So here's the strategy:

Plan 1 [rocket launcher]- Once the Right Hand Man comes out, after you run to the door to unlock it, dodge any attacks he gives, or better yet, throw a flash grenade, then an incendiary grenade, at him. Now run to the nitrogen canister in the room. Tip it over, and when he freezes, aim the rocket launcher at him and he dies. Collect the crown jewel, and combine it with the crown and go sell it.

Plan 2 [fight]- Basically, do the same as above, but when he's frozen, shoot him with a magnum or shotgun. Then the door should open. Run down the hall, dodging his ceiling attacks by pressing the right buttons, until you come to another Nitrogen container. Spill it out, and shoot the heck out of him until he unfreezes. Now run like the wind and repeat. Eventually, tipping over each canister along the way, you will come to the elevator room. If you think it's been almost 4 minutes, go in, tip over the last canister, shoot him, and don't stop. If he doesn't die, dodge any attacks, and shoot until he dies.
Remember that you can leave on the elevator at any time after the 4 minutes is up, and the fight ends. If you want the reward, and you did everything so far right, he should be dead. This guy is HARD because he's so fast, so a rocket launcher, especially a free one, is worth it. This is a good place for the Broken Butterfly.

#5 - Salazar
The fight against Salazar is actually not that hard. Maybe Capcom had decided to make the mini-bosses harder than the actual ones. Anyway, if you're all tired out from the previous battles (Verdugo; The Right Hand Man, and the two El Gigantes), you can relax and have fun.

There is one good strategy for beating this boss, and it's barely even a strategy. All you need to do once the battle begins is aim and shoot at the right tentacle. Run over to the right of the platform you are on, and stay there. Salazar can attack you there with the giant mouth that he has. If you stay up front and shoot at him, he will eat you. Basically, the idea here is to shoot Salazar's eye, and any vines that come back to whip you. If the vines do try to whip you, you will be given a chance to dodge by pressing the right buttons. After the eye has taken enough damage, the main vine will fall down, and in the center of the room, Salazars body will be shown. This is where the encasing around him opens and his true form is revealed. Shoot that with hopefully a Broken Butterfly, provided you saved Magnum ammo. If not your most powerful weapon will do. Eventually the eye will return and you get to do it all again. If you fall off the platform, there are spider monsters down below, and some ammo and reinforcements. Don't stay down for long, though. Once Salazar is defeated, grab the 50,000 Pesas he left.

#6 - U3 - 'It'
"It" is every little kid's nightmare. It's pale, fat, and has a big parasitic tongue sticking out of it's mouth. It has three main attacks:

Attack 1 (medium/close range) - When close enough, a vine/arm shoots out to drag you in, and if you press the buttons indicated fast enough, Leon whips out his knife and slashes his way free.

Attack 2 (on the ceiling) - This is like Verdugo's initial attacks, where from out of sight, the boss whips a tentacle down to cut Leon. Easy to avoid, just be quick to press the right buttons.

Attack 3 (close range) - If you are unfortunate enough to get too close to It after the Paratite on it's head pops out, be ready to take some damage. The only defense here is prevention. So if It drops down too close to you, take a few steps back.

The fight is in two sections, the first is the caged cargo area you start in. There are three of these areas, each with two control panels you must activate to open the main hatch. Once you do that, the cage falls off once the timer runs out. Do this three times, and It falls down the cliff. When attacking, it's recommended that you use the shotgun and aim at his neck or head. After the last panel is activated on the third cargo area, jump to the cliff's edge, and stage two of the fight begins.

After taking a few steps onto the next section, you see a cutscene of It climbing up the cliffside. Now you must run in circles through the maze, occasionally turning around to shoot an explosive barrel, or to close one of the gates on him, which he will promptly smash to pieces, but not before you get a few shots in. Once you've exhausted your supply of barrels and gates, it's time to just shoot the hell out of It. Shooting the head-Parasite works, and after enough punishment It goes down.
