RESIDENT EVIL SURVIVOR 2: CODE VERONICA

Sheena Island – on the outside a peaceful residential island for people seeking a solitary life… But beneath the calm exterior tells a dark story. The cries of dying children echo through the streets at night, and one by one more are disappearing. Rumours of a laboratory within the island where tests are run are heard. The residents fear the one known only as Vincent Goldman.
A man wakes up at the wreckage of a helicopter, something’s happened… Fires rage around the island, helicopters circle over head, and yet he can’t remember what happened, nor can he remember himself. Upon exploring the island, he discovers horrific zombies and more deadly creations, but none more terrifying than the truth that he discovers when he realises he could be Vincent, and is unaware of the terrible acts he has committed...

And just who is Ark Thompson?

  • Use “critical” hits as much as possible. They deal double the damage and they often net you items from enemies, such as health or weapons. When you are close to an enemy, you will hear a chiming sound. If you attack once you hear that sound, you will execute a critical hit. The words “critical” will also appear onscreen.
  • Get used to using weaker weapons such as the handgun in most situations rather than relying on powerful weapons. This will save you ammo and make you a much better player.
  • Pay close attention to the enemy radar and which direction it is indicating. If it is red, then an enemy attack is sure to occur. Utilize your quick turn and strafing skills frequently.
  • If you are surrounded by enemies, look for an opening and get some distance. You never know when another healing item will become available, so self preservation is key.
  • If you are trying to achieve a large combo, grabbing coins, smashing boxes, and breaking lamps are a great help when the enemies in a room are scarce.
  • Always look for an explosive barrel on environmental weapon in the room. Why waste ammo?
  • Always stay on the move, or "run n' gun". Staying stationary will only give enemies the chance to gain on your or attack you.
  • Unless you are skilled in “critical” hits, keep a distance from all enemies.
  • Combos, speed, enemies killed, and damage evasion will net you the most points in the end. If you are able to complete a level as quickly as possible will maintaining a decent combo and avoiding damage, you will achieve a top score.

---- 3. Arcade Mode Arcade mode is the main attraction the game, I suppose. Well, at the very least, it is the mode that is difficult enough without making you want to tear your hair out (unlike Dungeon). You play as either Claire or Steve. Whoever you choose, the person you didn’t choose will assume the role of “partner” which means they run around doing very little until they are killed. At the very least, they draw enemies away from you. Beating the game multiple times will raise you partner’s experience level. Each level you visit is based on an area in the Code:Veronica game, but with a few continuity leaps. You will sometimes find yourself in a room that was actually many rooms away according to Code:Veronica’s maps. But, oh well. Arcade mode is a four and a half level mode where the main goal of the level is to grab a key and use it to unlock the boss door before the time runs out and Nemesis comes looking for you. In between getting the key and getting to the boss room, you must fend off all kinds of RE monsters, most of them killable via distanced handgun pea-shooting. Anyway, below is a rough breakdown of the levels. A walkthrough really isn’t necessary. If you’ve played the game before, you would understand why…and it’s NOT because I have better things to do. Sincerely. ---- 4. Stages Stage 01: The Prison Grounds The prison grounds on Rockfort Island, from Claire’s starting point in the game to the area where we first met Steve. The boss of the level is Neticia, a giant spider codenamed “Black Tiger”. Just circle around this monster and pummel it with the handgun. Stage 02: The Official Residence The Ashford mansion where Claire once saved Steve from certain death. It is now crawling with Lickers and the boss monster is a giant Sweeper. Shoot as quickly as possible with your most powerful weapon. Stage 03: The Training Camp A visit to the military facility we all remember vaguely. The boss monster of this level is Nosferatu. Watch out for the poison clouds while raining blows upon him and his two Bandersnatch buddies. Stage 04: The Private Residence The secret mansion of the Ashfords that also connects somehow to the Antarctic Facility residence. Nemesis will already be chasing you at the start of this level. You will also have to fight the Black Tiger again. The boss of this level is Alexia I accompanied by an infinite amount of Cerberuses. Just concentrate your Magnum on her and you should be alright. Stage 05: The Airport This is a very short trek through the airport area of Rockfort Island. The boss of the level is the T-078. Blast him with the Shotgun. If you managed to collect all the jewels in the game, you will have to face the Nemesis one last time. Just fire the Linear Launcher at him to quickly end this game. DUNGEON MODE The other main draw of Gun Survivor 2. You are given three levels with 6-7 “missions” each. Completion of each mission will unlock new levels, more ammo, and eventually, two new characters: Chris Redfield and Rodrigo Raval. Most of these tasks will instill suicidal feelings in normal gamers. Clock Tower A weird, multi-floored level with no clock in sight. The boss monster of the level is the Black Tiger. You know, the giant spider? Mission 01: Kill the boss monster. Mission 02: Obtain all four jewels in the level and kill the boss monster. Mission 03: Defeat all the monsters in the level and kill the boss monster. Mission 04: Achieve a 60 Hit Combo and kill the boss monster. Mission 05: Beat the level and kill the boss monster in under six minutes. Mission 06: Score more than 60 million points and kill the boss monster. Underground The area surrounding Rockfort Island. The encounter the Gulp Worm as a mid-boss in this level. Alexia I is the boss of the level. Mission 01: Kill the boss monster. Mission 02: Obtain all four jewels in the level and kill the boss monster. Mission 03: Defeat all the monsters in the level and kill the boss monster. Mission 04: Achieve a 70 Hit Combo and kill the boss monster. Mission 05: Beat the level and kill the boss monster in under eight minutes. Mission 06: Score more than 70 million points and kill the boss monster. Inferno Another Umbrella lab in chaos. Nosferatu and the Sweeper are mid-bosses in this level. The boss monster is the T-078 model Tyrant. Mission 01: Kill the boss monster. Mission 02: Obtain all five jewels in the level and kill the boss monster. Mission 03: Defeat all the monsters in the level and kill the boss monster. Mission 04: Achieve a 80 Hit Combo and kill the boss monster. Mission 05: Beat the level and kill the boss monster in under ten minutes. Mission 06: Score more than 90 million points and kill the boss monster. Mission 07: Kill 300 monsters and kill the boss monster. VS. ROACH MODE If you complete at least one level of the Dungeon, you will unlock this mode. Basically, the goal of these missions is to kill all the roaches in the stage, or “lesson”, as fast as possible. The reward for this is the ability to use the Panzerfaust EX in this mode. Hmm. ---- 5. Lessons Lesson 01: Roach Attack Just kill the roaches. Lesson 02: Wipe Out! Again, kill the roaches. Lesson 03: Roach Revenge Ditto. Lesson 04: Insect World Kill the moths and roaches. Lesson 05: Final Showdown Kill the moths and roaches while avoiding the giant “laser”. 6. Ranking Mode This is just a little mode where you can check out your rankings from the other modes. Nothing much here.

Ark Thompson (The Survivor): A private investigator who visits Sheena Island per the request of Leon Kennedy, one of his good friends. He investigates the island under the guise of "Vincent Goldman" and is, for the most part, successful until he is confronted by the real Vincent Goldman. In a scuffle with Goldman, Ark manages to board a helicopter, hoping to escape. However, Vincent ruins his plan, causing the two men to fall out of the craft, destroying the helicopter in the process. Hours later, Ark awakens, his short term memory completely erased. With this condition of temporary amnesia, he makes his way through the island, depending only on his gun for survival. He is eventually able to escape the island via helicopter with two orphans in tow. Vincent Goldman: Commander of Sheena Island and a high ranking Umbrella employee. After he slaughters a group of guinea pigs (prisoners kept on the island with the sole purpose of extracting a special chemical from their brains), the residents of the island plan to report him to Umbrella. Unfortunately, Vincent releases the T-Virus on the island before anything can happen. He dies in the fall from the helicopter. Lott Klein: The son of an Umbrella researcher. Before the outbreak, he is a little spy for Vincent. During the outbreak, his parents are infected and he is left to care for his sister until he meets up and eventually escapes the island with Ark. Lily Klein: Lott's sister. After her parents are infected with the T-Virus, she depends on her brother for protection and escape. She flees the island with Ark and Lott. Andy Holland: An Umbrella employee disguised a sa lowly, sewer-dwelling caretaker. During the outbreak, he hunts down Ark, whom he believes is Vincent Goldman. It is assumed he dies in the self-destruction of the island facilities. Synopsis Sheena Island. Home of one of Umbrella's most important laboratory facilities. It is there that the T-103 B.O.W.s are mass produced, as well as an assortment of other creatures. The island is run by Vincent Goldman, a high ranking Umbrella commander who, like the other famous Umbrella big wigs, has a sweet tooth for insanity and paranoia. After he slaughters a group of guinea pigs attempting to escape his prison facilities, he is convinced that the residents of the island plan to report him to the headquarters. Meanwhile, a private investigator named Ark Thompson arrives on the island as a favor to his friend, Leon Kennedy. He roams the island under the alias of "Vincent Goldman" and discovers much about Umbrella's doings there until he is confronted by the real Goldman. In a scuffle with Goldman, Ark manages to board a helicopter, hoping to escape. However, Vincent ruins his plan, causing the two men to fall out of the craft, destroying the helicopter in the process. Hours later, Ark awakens, his short term memory completely erased. With this condition of temporary amnesia, he makes his way through the island, thanks to Goldman's intentional spill of the T-Virus, depending only on his gun for survival. Along the way, he meets two orphaned children of infected Umbrella employees and together, they make their way to the island's lab facilities where they eventually escape by helicopter after defeating the experimental Hypnos Tyrant. What This Installment Added Pretty much nothing, other than world reactions to the Raccoon City incident, Umbrella's perspective on the incident, Nicholai's survival, where and how Tyrants are mass produced, and an inferred hint at Leon's new career. If anything, small details fit only for Resident Evil nerds. Loose Ends 1. Where the hell did Ark take Lott and Lily? 2. What was Ark originally investigating? 3. How is it that Andy doesn't know what Vincent looks like?
