RESIDENT EVIL 2

The remaining members of S.T.A.R.S. tried to get the word out about Umbrella Incorperation’s involvement with the mansion incident and the exact nature of the undead that were advancing upon the city.

Chief Brian Irons dismissed their claims as unbelievable drug induced hallucinations. The claims of the survivors were laughed off, even as the horrors unleashed by Umbrella began their slow, unstoppable march upon Raccoon City. Soon, chaos reigned.Even as the entire city was being destroyed by unspeakable horrors, rookie cop Leon S. Kennedy sped towards Raccoon, eager to start his duties as a police officer.

Instead of finding his comrades and a secure city, he stumbled upon a necropolis of the living dead, the only RPD officer left to serve and protect any humans who had escaped death. On the other end of the city, Claire Redfield searches for her brother, Chris Redfield. Raccoon was where they had last met, and she is unprepared for the monsters that await her. Before long, she realizes that the sickness around Raccoon City could cost her her life, and she must escape…

While running from the undead, Claire and Leon meet up in the middle of the city. The two must figure out not only who and what is causing this
epidemic, but how to survive.

Leon S. Kennedy: Rookie cop anxious for his first day on the job. He enters Raccoon City after most of the town has been reduced to a desolate hell filled with the undead and an assortment of Umbrella creations. He meets Claire early on and through the rest of the night, aid each other in search of a way out of the city. They are separated and forced to explore the Police Station and the terrors beyond alone. In the underground parking lot of the RPD, Leon meets Ada Wong, an enigmatic female spy in search of a reporter. After Leon takes her to the reporter, she runs off and for the rest of the game, Leon follows. This habit will inevitably cause him a gunshot wound to the shoulder. Eventually, the two make their way to Umbrella's underground lab where, at gunpoint, Ada demands Leon hand over the G-Virus sample he acquired from Annette Birkin's unconscious body. He refuses and in a moment of tenderness, Ada is shot over the railing by Annette, where she would eventually plunge into darkness. Leon rids himself of the sample and rushes to escape the facility. In the bottom levels of the facility, he jumps aboard the escape train set into motion by Claire and the two survivors are finally reunited. After a few minor setbacks, such as the undying G-Type William Birkin, Leon, Claire, and Sherry are able to escape from Raccoon. Not long afterward, Leon urges Claire to leave in pursuit of her brother. As she departs, Leon and Sherry are taken in by United States officials and questioned. Leon is given an offer by them, one which he accepts with little hesitation. Claire Redfield: Kid sister of Chris Redfield, one of the main characters from the original game. She comes to Raccoon in search of her brother, but finds something much worse. After she is saved from nearly being eaten alive by a virus carrier, Claire and Leon hatch a plan to get out Raccoon City as soon as they can. After they are separated, Claire explores the deserted police station, eventually running into the corrupt Chief Irons and Sherry Birkin, the daughter of two important Umbrella researchers. As Sherry and Claire look for a way out of the city, they are stalked by the inhuman T-103. The monster follows them all the way to Umbrella's underground lab until it is tricked into jumping into a massive smelting pot by Claire. In the process of preparing the escape train out the facility, the T-103 returns in it's true form and is defeated by Claire, thanks to a mysterious assistant. As Claire sets the train in motion, Leon appears and jumps aboard. After a brief battle with G-Type Birkin, the trio runs from the escape train, clearing the escape tunnel before the entire thing detonates. Not long after their escape, Leon urges her to leave them and go search for her brother. She was last seen walking away from a battered Leon and Sherry, heading into the wilderness alone. Ada Wong: A spy sent by Albert Wesker to attain a sample of the G-Virus. Throughout the game, she is searching for Sherry Birkin, whom we learn has a viable sample of the virus hidden in the locket around her neck. Her cover story is that she is looking for John, an Umbrella researcher who perished in the "mansion incident". Though she starts off as an ice cold woman, she soon warms to Leon's thoughtfulness and sense od duty and that vulnerability ultimately led to her failing her objective. After she let go of Leon's hand, believing she was as good as dead, she was saved by Albert Wesker, who had future use for her. Sherry Birkin: The daughter of Annette and William Birkin. Sherry grew up in a family atmosphere where she was always second to her parent's research. Amid the T-Virus outbreak, Sherry hides in RPD, using the small vents to get around the various rooms undetected. She meets Claire and immediately the two form a bond similar to that of a little sister and a big sister. After she escaped Raccoon with Leon and Claire, she was taken into government custody with Leon and questioned. We learn from Wesker's Report that the man in black now has her in his possession. Brian Irons: The corrupt police chief of the Raccoon City police. Besides having a nearly genius IQ, Irons also has a criminal past as well as a past taking bribes from Umbrella to keep his mouth shut about recent "going-ons". Not only did he cover up the mansion incident, but he also silenced the surviving S.T.A.R.S attempts to leak the information to the media. While his police station was under siege by the undead, Irons took to gunning down his own officers. Before Irons gets a chance to lay a hand on Claire, he is torn apart by G-Type William Birkin. Annette Birkin:The wife of William Birkin and a head researcher in Umbrella's underground lab. During the events of RE 2, Annette feverishly guards sample of her husband's G-Virus, a task that would drive her to exhaustion and mild insanity. In the aftermath of Claire's battle with the T-103, she is struck unconscious by falling debris. Before dying at the feet of her only daughter, Annette manages to fatally wound Ada Wong. Ben Bertolucci: A reporter for a Raccoon City newspaper who is always looking for a scoop. While the RPD was under siege, Ben was safely tucked in one of the precinct's basement holding cells. He is encountered by Leon and Ada during the course of RE 2 and before being torn apart by a G-Embryo, he hands Leon a document fingering Brian Irons as a co-conspirator of the events that lead up to the T-Virus outbreak. William Birkin: A head researcher for Umbrella and founder of the G-Virus. He is mortally wounded by U.S.S mercenaries and before dying, injected himself with his own life's work. He then mutated into a hideous, violent creature capable of implanting it's own embryos into human hosts. This creature dwells the sewers of Raccoon for over a week before being destroyed by Leon and Claire. Hunk: A mercenary under the Umbrella Secret Service, Hunk was ordered by the French division of Umbrella to acquire a sample of Birkin's G-Virus. His first attempt to capture as ample fails when, after mortally wounding Birkin, his entire unit is wiped out by the mutated researcher. He spends a week in the sewers of Raccoon, doing God knows what, until he manages to capture the sample that Leon tosses. He then escapes the city via helicopter from the roof of the RPD. Marvin Branagh: The last living officer in the RPD. He offers Leon valuable advice before eventually succumbing to the T-Virus and becoming a zombie. Synopsis Only a few months after the "mansion incident", strange reports begin to emerge in the headlines. Reports of bizarre monsters, strange happenings. The surviving S.T.A.R.S have been silenced from telling their story and since the mansion's explosion took all of the evidence with it, the S.T.A.R.S have been disgraced. Not long after the reports begin, a secret mission takes place beneath the surface of Raccoon City. A group of mercenaries sneak into an Umbrella lab in hopes of stealing a new virus from one of the researchers. The mission does not go as planned and, as a result, amounts of the the T-Virus, the same virus that caused the incident months ago, is exposed to sewer rats. In no time at all, the rats manage to infect more than 75% of the population, turning a once lively midwestern town into a zombie filled necropolis. Meanwhile, two unfortunate individuals are driving into town with goals of their own in mind. One, Leon Kennedy, is a rookie cop anxious to start his career in Raccoon. The other, Claire Redfield, is a college student who has come to town in hopes of finding her brother, Chris. Not long after they cross the city lines do the two survivors realize what they have gotten themselves into. Over the course of numerous hours, the two navigate their way through the deserted police station and through the dangerous sewers of the city, finally reaching an underground laboratory and, eventually, their escape. Though their paths were diverse, the two managed to escape in one piece, bringing along with them a bright young girl named Sherry. After their escape, the trio was split. While Claire left to look for her brother, Leon and Sherry were taken into government custody. Leon accepts a job with the United States and Sherry is kidnapped by Albert Wesker's henchmen. What This Installment Added Resident Evil 2 finally lets us see a portion of the town we've only read about, Raccoon City. We also get to see where the S.T.A.R.S we met in the first game work and live, as well as their boss. We meet the famous "Ada" from the computer puzzle in the original and we finally figure out who truly survived the mansion incident. As for what this installment added in terms of series longevity, introducing a city infected by the T-Virus opened doors for an assortment of sequels, such as Resident Evil 3 and Outbreak. Loose Ends 1. Which scenario is the "true" story? Though many have already concluded that Leon A/Claire B was the true combo due to the events and information provided in future games, there are still those who believe otherwise. Of course, the events as they are portrayed in Wesker's Report don't help things at all. 2. Who threw the Rocket Launcher at the end of scenario B? Though it would appear to be Ada since it is her voice and her character model, the answer is still unclear. However, it is hard to deny the truth, especially when you look at Resident Evil 4's ending.... 3. How did Hunk manage to survive both William Birkin's rampage and the sewers of Raccoon City for a week? Why is he delivering the G-Virus to Loire Village? What is going to become of the sample? 4. Who was that mysterious person mentioned in the "Patrol Report"? 5. Who were the "survivors the the other rooms" that Marvin was talking about? 6. Who is "The Agency". Before we learn that Ada was actually allied with Wesker, these were her supposed employers. I guess we'll never know.

4th Survivor Guide (needs to be ported to the wiki!)
A guide for the 4th Survivor mini game unlocked when you complete Scenarios A and B. The star of the game is a Umbrella agent codenamed "Hunk". You may remember a certain cutscene where a group of goggle-eyed mercs shot William Birkin up for his G-Virus research. It looked like they were all wiped out, yet one apparently survived and you get to play as him, you lucky (or unlucky) bastard! The game mainly consists of a trek from the Sewers (via Leon's walkthrough) to the roof of the Police Station (where the wrecked chopper is). However, along the way, you will run into cruel amounts of monsters from the game as well as two very special ones. Doesn't sound too hard, right? Well, keep in mind that Hunk has no access to item boxes and he doesn't pick anything up...AT ALL. The only hope you have to escape is in the equipment you've been given (handgun, magnum, shotgun, decent ammo for each and two green/blue mixed herbs). The upside is that Hunk can take more damage than the average character and is quite a bit faster. Surviving this mission will require a mastery of inventory screen reloading, enemy attack and death cries, constant running, excellent aim, ammo conservation, and enemy juking/dodging. Of course, you could also put auto aim on, making the experience slightly easier. Good luck. Did I..uh..did I mention there is no reward for beating this? If you still have questions, either drop me an email or head to the forums and post your question in the "Ask BB" section. Brief Weirdness You may notice the "4" etched in stone near the starting point. Intro "G...G-Virus...I have to get it to Umbrella..." Walkthrough You'll start off near the entrance to the sewer, which is free of enemies. Equip the handgun. Head up the stairs and through the door. In the next room, take out the female zombie and the zombies standing in the walkway. Ignore the zombie to your left and head to the end of the walkway. Wait here until the two zombies are close and run around them to exit. In the next room, hug the wall to Hunk's right until you pass the first zombie, then dash past the zombie near the door. Check which direction the remaining zombie and headed and make your way to the sewer accordingly. In the sewer, run along the outside wall, hopefully dodging the approaching webspinner. Continue along the outside wall, dodging the next webspinner and climb up the ladder. As the stage loads make sure you are holding the buttons to run forward. In the next room, there are cerberuses, but you should be able to come away unscathed if you stay your course to the next section. Outside, you will find two ground zombies, one inert (not moving) and the other crawling. Equip the shotgun and blast them before the flaming zombie on the right can get to you. Quickly run by their dying corpses, keeping close to the inside wall, hopefully dodging the two fools standing there in a run. In the parking lot, run forward, and dashing briefly to Hunk's left, hopefully dodging the jumping attacks of the cerberus. Make your way to the exit. This next hallway will be full of crows, so just keep running. Prep yourself for the turn into the hall that will lead toward the main staircase. Turning too early or late will result in you getting mercilessly pecked. Equip the handgun and make your way upstairs to the RPD. Upstairs, fill the three cerberuses you find here with handgun bullets until you hear their final yelp. Head to the exit where you finally find yourself in the Police Station. Run forward, dodge the zombie and take a sharp right into the office. When the camera changes, stall for a bit so you can get an idea of how the zombies are closing in on you. When they get close enough, zigzag back to the outer perimeter of the desks, making your way to the double door on the other side. Equip your shotgun. Outside, you'll find yourself in a zombie ambush. Decap the zombie immediately in front of you and then take out the two guys to Hunk's right. Hang out in the little spot by the candy machines until the rest of them get close enough and (yes) dash by them. Ignore the guy by the door and exit. The main hall. Nothing to see here. Just head to the door across from where you exitted. Here, you'll find a couple of webspinners. Use the pillar here to fake out the first one and just craftily run past the second one behind the wall here. In this next hall, you'll be dealing with three lickers. Run along the outside wall, cutting across to the inside wall, but then quickly crossing over to the outside wall, only to head back to the inside wall after dodging the second licker. Stay your course to the exit and you'll be fine. Equip the handgun. There are two red ivies in this area. Wait until the first gets in your line of fire and then pepper it with the handgun. Don't get too close, as these things spit damaging fluid and whack you if you get too close. Keep the volume at a reasonable level so you can hear ttheir death cries. When they've been dealt with, move on to the next area. As the next section is loading, hold the run button and the right button on the d-pad. You are going to want to run to the right to avoid a pre-emptive puddle of red ivy fluid. Head to the end of the hall and equip the magnum. Fire upon these two freaks and head upstairs. Here, you're going to want to pause near that little spot to the right of the hallway until the T-103 comes into view. Circle around him and run down the hall to the exit. In the S.T.A.R.S hallway, you're going to be dealing with a few inert zombies. Dodge the two crawling towards you and navigate your way through the maze of half-dead zombies, walking on their legs for safety. If you're low on health, you could always cap these guys with the handgun. The next section is one of the toughest in the mini game, especially if you are low on health. Wait for the first "super" licker to get sort of close and then WALK to dodge it, making your way toward that side hallway. Another licker should dart out, dash past when you see an opening and head to the next section. The library is clear, so just head to the next section. Outside, there will be a few plants in the distance. Pick them off with the handgun and move on. Equip the shotgun. This next room is the toughest room in the game, mostly because of the incredibly shitty camera angle. Run toward and decapitate the zombies with the shotgun. Head to the exit and either decap or dodge the zombie near the door. In the next room, decap the zombie in front of you and do the same with any in your way to the door. In the final hallway of the mini game, you will encounter the T-103. Either take the hit and run by when he's charging up the overhead smash, or give him all you've got. Either way, you have this game beat once you exit this hallway. Congratulations. If you found this one a little too easy, try the Tofu Survivor game. Outro Agent survived and successfully obtained the G-Virus. The virus went into the hands of Umbrella. End of one nightmare, prelude to another...

About the Beta (needs to be ported to the wiki!)
The Basics Many, in fact almost too many, are well aware that the RE 2 that we have all played wasn't the original version from conception. Fans have erroneously dubbed this version "Resident Evil 1.5", though it should actually be "Resident Evil 2 v1.0" since it is the first version of RE 2 and "1.5" would seem to indicate a game between Resident Evil 1 and 2, but whatever. And YES, I've heard the official reason for why it is called "1.5", but still elect to call it dumb. Too late to change that now. Anyway, here is my brief look at this not-so mysterious beta version of RE 2. History from the Horse's (Capcom's) Mouth "The members of the reported missing S.T.A.R.S team returned healthy and safe. Thanks to their testimonies, the investigators concluded that the building hidden in the heart of the forest was a laboratory destined for experimenting with and the manufacturing of biological weapons. By studying the combined reports of all the chemists involved , the gigantic company Umbrella was proved to be at the origin of these biological events. The owners of Umbrella were arrested and the company got disbanded. The case, referred to as " the Umbrella incident " by the media, was received in the whole world as being an act of terrorism. During the period following the previous problems, the quiet town of Raccoon is starting to present signs again of something abnormal taking place. All starts with an odd skin disease. The inhabitants ask that an investigation be opened, fearing that this disease has a relationship with Umbrella. However, the government affirms that the prior case is closed and that this disease is unrelated... However, the disease infects the inhabitants at an incredible speed. Within a few days, hundreds of human lives are lost and the city becomes a dead city. Then the corpses come back to life and a new nightmare starts.."
