    Resident Evil: Deadly Silence

The DS is the first modern portable system to get its own version of Resident Evil, and Capcom doesn't seem to be cutting corners. Resident Evil Deadly Silence, a remake of the original Resident Evil, will sport a number of new features not present in the original PlayStation title.

RE: DS uses the DS's bottom screen to display most of the action, with the top screen used to display a map, your remaining ammo and your remaining life. There's no life meter in the game, though. You actually determine your character's health by the background color of the top screen. Red means you're in a pinch. Also, until you've actually obtained a full map of a particular area, the map on the top screen will only show areas that you've previously accessed, keeping it in line with previous Resident Evil map systems

The most striking use of the stylus comes in the form of knife battles, where the game switches to first person and you use the stylus to slash away at oncoming zombies. While this might suggest that you can switch to first person mode whenever you like, in turn suggesting that pre-rendered backdrops have been done away with, it turns out that the knife battles start up automatically at fixed points -- like when you enter a room, for instance. Finish a knife battle, and you're back in the standard Resident Evil perspective.

Alice (Milla Jovovich), one of only two survivors of the contained biochemical disaster in the first Resident Evil, has been subjected to biogenetic experimentation by the vast Umbrella Corporation and becomes genetically altered, with super-human strengths, senses and dexterity. These skills and more will be needed if anyone is to remain alive. Alice is joined by Jill Valentine (Sienna Guillory), a recently demoted member of Umbrella Corp's elite Special Tactics and Rescue Services (S.T.A.R.S.), Terri Morales (Sandrine Holt), Carlos Olivera (Oded Fehr), L.J. (Mike Epps), and Nicholai (Zack Ward) who must survive and escape what is quickly becoming a City of the Dead. To reach their goal, they will need to battle their way through the relentless onslaught of the ravenous undead, as well as Umbrella forces and terrifying bioengineered weapons, the most deadly of which is the colossal, heavily armed assassin, Nemesis.

Marilyn Manson worked on the soundtrack, so it's no surprise that Resident Evil is best enjoyed by headbangers, goth guys, and PlayStation junkies. Like the interactive game it's based on, this horror hybrid pits a small band of SWAT-like commandos (including Milla Jovovich and Girlfight's Michelle Rodriguez) against a ravenous hoard of zombies, resulting in a gorefest that only sociopaths could love. The tenacious heroes are trapped inside the Hive--an underground complex where an evil corporation conducts illegal research with a deadly virus--and the zombies (reanimated corpses of sacrificed employees) are fodder for endless rounds of gunfire. It's utter nonsense (not unlike director Paul W.S. Anderson's previous Event Horizon), so your best defense is to wallow in it or avoid this trash altogether. A few cool sequences are borrowed from better films (that slice-and-dice laser is cribbed from the 1998 Canadian shocker Cube), but if you're in the mood for heavy-metal carnage, this movie's for you. --Jeff Shannon

While it remains unexplained how Chris, one of the original S.T.A.R.S. team members, appears in Resident Evil CVX, players will be reacquainted with his iron will and munitions expertise.

Resident Evil Dead Aim features the character zapping system from Resident Evil 0, you can swap between the two playable characters Bruce MacGavin and Fong Lin during the quest. The story takes place on a cruise ship, where you must use various weapons to battle with the zombies and monsters.

The online Resident Evil will take place in Raccoon City within the storylines of the second and third games in the original series. The Umbrella Corporation has developed a virus that turns people into violent zombies that increase their numbers by attacking defenseless citizens. You (and three friends) will play a group of said defenseless citizens, teaming up together online and going through a series of missions to find a way out of the city alive.

Exploration is now done in a top-down view, whilst combat occurs in a first-person viewpoint for this GBC Resident Evil adventure.

Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles is a brand new game in the Resident Evil franchise, with familiar locales from the entire series, created specifically for the unique characteristics of the Wii hardware. This action/shooter hybrid reveals the back story behind the fall of the Umbrella Corporation by exploring locations from Resident Evil 0, 1, 2 and 3 as well as new never-before-seen locations, such as Umbrella’s stronghold. Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles combines first-person, light-gun style combat with interactive pathways, multiple weapons and new enemies to create an entirely new Resident Evil experience that could only be delivered on the Wii.
